Why we own our asphalt and RMC plants instead of subcontracting

Most road contracts fail on one of two things: the material didn't perform, or it didn't arrive on time. Both usually trace back to the same decision, buying asphalt or ready mix concrete from a third-party plant instead of controlling it directly.

Material you can trace

When a plant is ours, we control the mix design, the aggregate source and the batching, and we can trace a defect back to a specific batch and shift. When it's bought in, that visibility ends at the gate of somebody else's plant.

A schedule you can hold

Asphalt has a working window measured in minutes once it leaves the plant. RMC has one measured in an hour or two. A contractor buying from an external plant is exposed to that plant's other customers, its breakdowns, its queue. Running our own plants means the pour or the paving run happens on our schedule, not somebody else's order book.

One number to call

If something goes wrong with the material, there's no second company to chase. We work 24/7, 365, and that's only possible because the plant, the fleet and the site crew answer to the same schedule.
